CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION

Literacy Works offers individualized computer-assisted classroom instruction to individuals who have not obtained a GED.  The educational software that we use aligns with the NALS (National Adult Literacy Survey) skill levels to enhance the individualized program. 

All Literacy Works instructors have been trained to be effective in individualized, computer-assisted learning, as well as to create and implement individual learning plans for every student.  Each instructor tests every student upon enrollment and again after 75 hours of instruction and records the results.  Students can expand their knowledge in reading, writing, math and computer skills and prepare for the GED test.

Because of our success and the recognition of the U.S. Department of Education,  Literacy Works is now assisting other adult and family literacy programs to institute our best practices. 

Literacy Works offers classes for adults who wish to improve their reading, writing, math and computers and who may wish to obtain a GED.  The only costs are for books and materials.

Those who are eligible:

• Are 16 years of age or older.
• Are not enrolled in any regular school program.
• Desire to increase their educational skills.
• Have educational goals in mind (i.e. drivers license, computer skills, employment, GED, college).
